THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS

At some point in our lives, we all have to forgive someone. Whether it is poorly spoken word or a much deeper wound caused by someone's abuse, abandonment or from an assault. The aches and pains from these injuries can linger for years, sometimes even a lifetime. It is through forgiveness that God heals our deepest wounds and frees us from our prisons of anger, hate, self-pity, and self-contempt. What does forgiveness really look like? God has guided me through a long journey of forgiveness. About 50 years ago, I was abused on several occasions by "family friends", I use those terms lightly, because what friend would do those things? This effected my life, and my families lives for years. It wasn't until I stepped foot into a church and learned about Jesus and how He forgives, that I started dealing with my issues. I needed to forgive the people that did this to me and forgive the ones that allowed this to happen to me. Let me tell you, forgiving is one of the hardest things that I have ever had to do, but it was worth it.
I learned that I didn't need to be face to face with the person that abused me in order to forgive them. I chose to speak directly with God, choosing to free my heart from all that hate, anger and pain. I told God that I forgive them all, it was at that moment that I was freed, my heart felt so much lighter. Now I have a calling on my life to help others to forgive. If you or someone you know needs help, I am here to listen and pray with you. Send me a message, I will answer. If you need to talk, I can give you a call. Please don't let unforgiveness keep you tied down and struggling.
God Bless,
Dianna
“Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.” Luke 24:45-48 ESV
